Five Tunes to Dig Into This Fall

There’s something satisfying about having a new tune to get into your hands.

Over five weeks, Emmanuelle will take you through five Acadian tunes, one at a time. She breaks each melody into manageable phrases so you can really hear what’s going on, then gives you the space to work through it at your own pace.

Along the way, you’ll get a closer feel for Emmanuelle’s phrasing and approach to the music, while adding five more tunes to your own repertoire.

Five new tunes. More time with your whistle. And plenty to keep playing after the course is over.

Something to Work On Every Week

Add five Acadian tunes to your repertoire

Work through each melody phrase by phrase

Spend time with the phrasing, rhythm, and feel of each tune

Have a clear focus when you sit down to practice

Get more comfortable learning traditional melodies by listening and repeating

Go back and spend more time on the parts that need it

And you don’t have to rush

The weekly schedule gives you a little momentum, but you’ll have access until November 30 so there’s plenty of time for life, catching up, and going back to the tunes you want to keep working on.

Everything You Need to Learn the Tunes

Emmanuelle gives you several ways to work with each tune, so you can listen, watch, repeat, and use the resources that are most helpful to you.

🟠  Phrase-by-Phrase Video Lessons

Emmanuelle breaks each melody into manageable sections so you can hear what’s happening and work through the tune a piece at a time.

🟠

Hear each complete tune played by the Trad Academy instructors and hear how the melody fits into the full sound of the music.

🟠

🟠  Adjustable-Speed Practice Track

Slow things down when you need to, repeat a section, and work toward regular speed when you’re ready.

🟠  Learn When It Works for You

There are no scheduled live classes. Watch, replay, and practice on your own schedule from your computer, tablet, or phone.

🟠  English & French

Course material is available in both languages.

Every Tune You Learn Keeps the Music Moving

Acadian traditional music has always been passed from one person to another.

You hear a tune. You learn it. You play it at a kitchen party, a session, a dance, or around the house. Maybe someday somebody learns it from you.

That’s how the music keeps going.

The Trad Academy is our way of sharing the music we grew up with and helping more people make it part of their own playing.

Every tune you learn becomes one more tune you can play, share, and pass along.
